Huge news for filmmakers participating in 2005 Sacramento Film Festival.
Consider a film entitled Matisyahu by David Baugnon. This doc which screened in 05's festival is an intimate portrait of an unknown hasidic Jew turned reggae rapper, Matisyahu. If that name rings a bell it should. Now Matisyahu has a single at #15 on the Billboard chart. The song is King Without a Crown. Check it out. Congratulations to him and to the filmmaker who chronicled his amazing and unexpected rise to pop stardom.
The Sacramento International Film Festival earns a reputation for debuting outstanding work. Here are more films receiving praises and distribution deals following appearances at the Sacramento Film Festival:

I championed this film to run in Sacramento two years ago because I knew the performances and story were simply transcendent. I'm glad to know the whole country will now have a chance to see what we saw. No film or group of filmmakers I have met are more deserving of such an honor."
